Batman Arkham City is a 2011 action adventure video game developed by Rock Steady Studios and released by Warner Bros , Interactive Entertainment . This game was released for Playstation 3 , Xbox 360 video game consoles and for Microsoft Windows based on DC comics hero Batman . It is the sequel to the 2009 video game Batman Arkham Asylum and the the second installment in the Batman Arkham series , it was released for the consoles world wide , beginning from North America released on 18 October , 2011 with a Microsoft Windows version following on 22 November . Arkham City is open world action adventure video game that incorporates the stealth game tactics . It is presented from the third person perspective , showing the playable character and the camera rotates around them every where . The Arkham City facility is open to the players from the beginning of the game , using the combination of gadgets and stealth moves to the enemies to incapacitate them . Batman can use his his cape to glide around the city , diving downward and swooping upwards to extend the fights with enemies , and he can use his grap gun to go to upwards ledges , using an improved version of free flow combat from Arkham Asylum , the player can now block multiple attacks simultaneously , catch hurled projectiles , attack aerially and administer of consecutive strikes .
