The title refers to Brazilian city Rio de Jeniero , where the first film was set and Rio 2 begins , though most of its plot occurs in Amazon Rain forest . Following a few years after first film , Blue and Jewel enjoys their life with their three kids , the oldest and the music lover Carla , the book lover Bia , and the youngest and cutest Tiago . Mean while Blue,s former author Linda Gunderson and her ornithologist Husband , Tulio are on expedition in Amazon and eventually discovers a quick fly spix,s mascaw that loses his one one feather .
